Pull the Smelt 2020

Feasts

February 29, 2020 all roads leads to Palūšė! Here will bustle the most funniest, wintery, cucumber-scented traditional festival "Pull the Smelt 2020"!

You will learn how to spin a "boba" in Ignalina

In Lake District, fishing and fishery are traditional crafts that are featured in various exhibitions, educational programs, offering fish soup or inviting into fishing craft holidays.

One of the traditional winter fishing methods in Ignalina region is the rotation of a wooden "boba" on the ice. Although there will be no ice, you can see the "boba" live and try fresh cucumber smelling fish at the traditional "pull the smelt" winter festival, which will take place on February 29 this year in Paluše.

And while fishermen are eagerly waiting for the ice to explore this fishing craft, you can visit the Ignalina Regional Museum and try out an interactive mock-up of traditional ethnographic fishing and play the game "A connoisseur of lakes region"
