The lake and the legendary Ignalina region have long attracted travelers and nature tourism enthusiasts. The enchanting images and the natural beauty of the land involuntarily awaken the imagination and stimulate interest in the origin of place names, interest in legends, stories and tales. Therefore, the cycle of events that make up this project aims to preserve and popularize the intangible cultural heritage of the Ignalina region, manifested in oral traditions - legends, tales, stories - and at the same time activate, promote cultural tourism and offer quality, high artistic cultural services not only to our region. , but also for tourists from Lithuania and abroad who visit here a lot. In addition, we will not only make the legends, stories and tales of the Ignalina region famous in the places where they originated or were written, but also preserve them in a digital format that would be accessible to every tourist or local resident interested in this region.
The content of the project consists of four events to be held in September in the most beautiful and most visited areas of Ignalina region - on the legendary Ladakalnis, near the historic Palūšė church, near the Mažuloniai mound and Ignalina legend sculptures dissemination.
The four events will feature:
legends, tales and stories related to the surroundings of the event are read alive by fairy tales of professional actors Birutė Mar, Giedrius Arbačiauskas or Ignalina region.
author's concert programs of famous Lithuanian bards - soloists and duets,
Folk songs performed by the Ignalina region folklore ensemble "Čiulbutė",
poetry of Lithuanian authors read by actors,
Theatrical inserts and mergers of the Ignalina Theater friends community.
In order to preserve and popularize the oral cultural heritage of our region, actors Birutė Mar and Giedrius Arbačiauskas and fairy tales speaking in the dialect of this region will include legends, stories and tales related to the Ladakalnis, Palūšė, Ignalina and Mažuloniai districts. These audio recordings will be available to anyone interested in the website - Ignalina Tourism Information Center, Aukštaitija National Park Visitor Center, Ignalina Culture and Sports Center, Ignalina District Municipality Public Library. In this way, we hope to preserve for future generations and spread the message about the richness of the intangible cultural heritage of our country, to promote cultural and cognitive tourism.
By financing this project, the Lithuanian Culture Council seeks to reduce the consequences of the emergency situation and quarantine in the field of culture: the continuity of the activities of cultural and art organizations and the development of digital cultural products and services are encouraged, actively involving artists.
Therefore, the ongoing events for those unable to participate will be broadcast on a specially created online platform www.ignalinoslegendos.lt. Filmed events will also be shown on local Ignalina Cable TV programs to increase audience numbers and meet the limited cultural needs of people at risk.
