In order to bring together regional best practices, innovative ideas and share discoveries, the Regional Development Department under the Ministry of the Interior organized a competition of original ideas and initiatives on the topic “Regions: Maps of Discoveries”. The aim of the competition is to identify and evaluate examples of good practice that inspire and make meaningful ideas that change people's lives and their environment.
Cooperation between the Lake Region Tourism Information Centers was recognized as the most strengthening and glorifying initiative in the region in Lithuania and in the world, and on 17 September Awarded the year of the Utena Regional Development Council meeting in Anykščiai.
For several years now, the Ignalina, Anykščiai, Molėtai, Utena and Zarasai tourism information centers have been implementing general marketing measures (exhibitions, games, publications, etc.) and positioning themselves as the land of Lithuanian lakes. Presenting the award, Nerijus Čepauskas, Head of the Utena County Division of the Regional Development Department under the Ministry of the Interior, noted that many beautiful and interesting initiatives were submitted to the competition, but this stood out for its regional cooperation and was probably the only one to cover more than one district.
