In 1997, through the efforts of the residents of the village of Mažėnai and the elder of Naujasis Daugėliškis, Juozas Paukštė, an oak sculpture of the „Angel“ (author – folk artist Teofilis Patiejūnas) was unveiled in front of the administrative building, where a chapel was installed in 1996. During the unveiling, the sculpture was consecrated by pastor Jonas Kardelis. The wooden work is dedicated to the local community and strengthening its spirituality.
