On May 8th, we invite you to listen to two great music masters – Bach and Brahms! This dialogue between Baroque and Romantic music is brought to you by the talented Lithuanian pianist Daumantas Kirilauskas.
Daumantas Kirilauskas has performed in European countries, the USA, and Iran. He has performed with all Lithuanian orchestras, as well as with the Latvian Sinfonietta Riga, the Finnish Lappeenranta City Orchestra, and the Kremerata Baltica Soloists. He has participated in many festivals and is a traditional guest of the Thomas Mann Festival.
The pianist's repertoire covers the period from the Baroque to the latest compositions of the 21st century. An important place in his repertoire is occupied by the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. In addition to solo works, the pianist has played in many chamber ensembles with famous Lithuanian and foreign soloists and groups, including the Vienna "Artis-Quartett". D. Kirilauskas is a participant in many premieres.
D. Kirilauskas has released 19 solo albums. His recording of Feliksas Bajoras' composition "Sideralis" was released in 2018 by the publisher "RMN Classical". In 2024, the London record company "Toccata Classics" released the album "Juozas Gruodis: Piano Music". Many of D. Kirilauskas' recordings are preserved in the archives of the Lithuanian Radio. His piano track can be heard in more than one film and performance.
D. Kirilauskas is a graduate of the MK Čiurlionis School of Arts (1991). He studied at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where he graduated with the highest honors, earning a Master of Arts degree. His teachers were Liucija Drąsutienė (from 1984 to 1994) and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (from 1994 to 2000).
The pianist is a laureate of national and international competitions. Since 2019, he has been a Bösendorfer artist. In 2021, he was awarded the Golden Disc of the Lithuanian Musicians' Union for his active concert activities and high artistic level. Since 2024, he has been a professor at the Department of Piano and Organ at the Lithuanian Academy of Music.
