The monument, a white cross with the inscription „God, protect Lithuania“ at the top, is located at the intersection of Laisvės and Geležinkelio streets. The cross, erected during the Sąjūdis movement, weighs 12 tons, is 2.5 m underground and 7.5 m above the ground. The initiator of the construction of this cross was Marija Kalvaitienė, who worked as a doctor in the town at the time. Next to the cross is a memorial plaque dedicated to the volunteers of the Dūkštas parish in the 1919–1920 Independence Struggles. The memorial plaque was unveiled on September 16, 2018.
