The current St. John the Baptist Church in Mielagėnai was built in 1790. The church is classicist, rectangular in plan, without a nave, with three naves inside. The churchyard fence is made of stone masonry. The ensemble of the St. John the Baptist Church began to be created at the end of the 18th century and was finally formed in the first half of the 19th century.
In 1760, the first wooden church was built on the initiative of the Courland nobleman Graf. In 1779, Justina Kublickienė, fulfilling her deceased husband's will, allocated a new plot of land for the construction of a brick church. It is believed that the artist Vincentas Smakauskas contributed to the interior decoration.
In June, the Pentecost festival is held at the St. John the Baptist Church in Mielagenai.
