The Padysnis hydroelectric power plant was built in 1956-1958 (executor-engineer-hydrotechnician Jonas Algirdas Skirkevičius). The pond was formed by damming the Dysna River. The area is 1.085 sq. km, the length of the shoreline is 16.64 km. Since 1962, a 150 kW hydroelectric power plant has been operating (reconstructed in 1993).
